Long Beach Divers to Compete at National Championships

Three McCormick Divers are headed to Texas in April for the Junior West National Championships. Top Long Beach Diver, Deon Reid of Bixby Knolls, qualified with a third place finish on 1 and 3 meter springboard in the boys’ 16 to 18 year old category. Brandon Loschiavo earned a trip to Nationals with a second place finish on 1 meter and fourth place on 3 meter springboard in the boys 14 to 15 year old competitions.

Long Beach Poly High School Junior, Reid earned over 50 points on 3 dives on the 3 meter board. His highest score on 3 meter was 60.20 points on the reverse two-and-one-half somersault dive. His highest score on 1 meter with 55.90 points on his front two-and-one-half somersault dive. Huntington Beach Dwyer Middle School 7th Grader, Loschiavo, earned 45.10 points on 1 meter with a front one-and-one-half somersault with a full twist. McCormick Divers in Community newspaper – Huntington Beach

Brandon Loschiavo of Huntington Beach is headed to the 2011 USA Diving Junior West Championships in April after qualifying in Arizona this weekend. The Dwyer Middle School 7th Grader earned a trip to Nationals with a second place finish on 1 meter and fourth place on 3 meter springboard in the boys 14 to 15 year old competitions. Loschiavo dove at the USA Diving Region 9 Championships in Scottsdale this weekend. He earned 45.10 points on 1 meter with a front one-and-one-half somersault with a full twist. His highest score on 3 meter was 44 points on the front two-and-one-half somersault. Christchurch Divers To Visit Long Beach Dive Team and Disneyland

The February 22nd earthquake in Christchurch, New Zealand irreparably damaged the already ailing diving pool where top New Zealand Divers, Amy Kroening and Jordan Von Hagen train.  The two divers train year round and are preparing for a competition in British Columbia with their coach, Steve Power, a BC native.  The springboard and platform diving community is a very supportive group and other divers were quick to offer help including Long Beach based McCormick Divers.Read More »Christchurch Divers To Visit Long Beach Dive Team and Disneyland
