Brandon Loschiavo of Huntington Beach is headed to the 2011 USA Diving Junior West Championships in April after qualifying in Arizona this weekend. The Dwyer Middle School 7th Grader earned a trip to Nationals with a second place finish on 1 meter and fourth place on 3 meter springboard in the boys 14 to 15 year old competitions. Loschiavo dove at the USA Diving Region 9 Championships in Scottsdale this weekend. He earned 45.10 points on 1 meter with a front one-and-one-half somersault with a full twist. His highest score on 3 meter was 44 points on the front two-and-one-half somersault. He was joined at Regionals by Goldenview Elementary School fifth grader, Jacqueline Cleugh. She dove in the 11 & Under girls’ one and three meter competitions. Los Alamitos High School Junior, Adam Payne dove in the boys 16 to 18 competitions. Fountain Valley High School Junior, Erica Curry dove in the girls’ 16 to 18 competitions. McAuliffe Middle School 7th Grader, Sydney Strickland dove in the 12 to 13 year girls category.
All of these OC divers train in Long Beach with McCormick Divers at the Belmont Plaza Olympic Pool. They will be cheering for Loschiavo when he competes in 2011 USA Diving Spring Junior West National Championships in Lubbock, Texas April 8-10.
