Congratulations to all the divers, coaches, and parents who participated in the 2012 Glenn McCormick Memorial Invitational this past January 21st – 22nd. Meet preparations were difficult in light of the recent maintenance closures to the Belmont Plaza Pool in Long Beach, but this didn’t hinder a fantastic turnout from clubs from all over Southern California. Turn and Burn Divers were gracious enough to share the beautiful Riverside Aquatics Complex and their helping hands. With chilling temperatures, wind, and rain divers faced very harsh conditions but dove with courage. Diving requires sharp mental focus that only becomes more important in bad weather situations such as those during the weekend events. We are proud of all the divers who held their handstands in the wind and did their hardest springboard dives when it was difficult to feel their feet, yet still pointed their toes as gracefully as ever. What a fine tribute to the late Glenn McCormick, coach and founder of McCormick Divers.
