Brandon Loschiavo and Jenna Sonnenberg dominated their age groups at the 2012 AAU Diving National Champions in Huntersville, North Carolina. Ten-year old Sonnenberg won gold in the 10-Year-Old Girls Events on both 1-Meter and 3-Meter Springboard. Fifteen-year-old Loschiavo won gold in the 15-Year Old Boys 3-meter Springboard and the 14-15 Year Old Boys Platform event and silver in the 1-Meter 15-Year Old Boys event.
Long Beach resident, Sonnenberg, earned her highest score of the meet on an Inward one-and-one-half somersault in tuck position on the 1-Meter Springboard. Her total score of 50.60 points is at a level of divers in much higher age groups.Read More »McCormick Divers Win 4 AAU National Titles

HUNTINGTON BEACH…Brandon Loschiavo of Huntington Beach is the AAU Diving National Champion in his age group on the 3-meter Springboard for the second year in a row. In 2011, he won the 14-Year Old Boys 3-Meter Championship. This year, he stood on the winners’ podium in all three of his events adding gold in the 14-15 Year Old Boys Platform event and silver in the 1-Meter 15-Year Old Boys event to his second National’s title on the 3-Meter Springboard.
Loschiavo earned his best overall scores of the meet with his Back one-and-one-half Somersault with two-and-one-half Twists on 3-Meter for a total of 67.20 points. His highest base score overall was on a front one-and-one-half somersault off the 7.5-Meter Platform. He averaged 9 out of 10 points from all judges earning 40.5 total points for the dive.

London isn’t the only place for divers to go for the gold. McCormick diver Jenna Sonnenberg is the AAU Diving 10-year-old Girls’ National Champion in the 3-meter Springboard Competition this week in North Carolina at the 2012 AAU National Championships.
Sonnenberg earned her best scores on her back dive in pike position with 21 points before adding the degree of difficulty of 1.8. Her most difficult dive (a front two-and-one-half somersaults in tuck position) earned her 42.90 points after adding the 2.2 degree of difficulty. She easily surpassed the competition with 47.10 points between her and the second place finisher.
